A large group of 420 students from college campuses across the holy land of Israel visited New York over the past few weeks, with girls and boys coming in separate groups.
Participants of the trip have spent a year learning and being tested on the Alter Rebbe’s Tanya and Gemara Brachos as part of a special program of Chabad on Campus Israel.
The director of the program, Rabbi Moshe Shilat said: “Approximately 40 years ago, a Shliach on Campus published a book on Emuna and science based on the Rebbe’s Sichos and letters. When the work was completed, he brought the book and the Rebbe said: “Instead of bringing books, bring the students to me.”
“We saw by the Rebbe a special fondness for the campus students around the world,” he said. “The students do not come from religious or traditional homes and for all of them, this is the first encounter with the pages of the Gemara and Tanya.”
The students were accompanied by Shluchim and Shluchos as they spent time visiting Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights and the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, as well as sightseeing in Manhattan.
The trip was organized by Bentzi Sasson of GO Kosher Travel.
