May 29, 2010 9:04 pm
why did you agree to let the network portray kosher like that
May 29, 2010 2:40 pm

not the best portrayal of what a kosher kitchen is all about – entertainment value – 100%
kiddush hashem – 0 %

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT

Guys – if you ever work with a great baalabuster or chef you will know that those who are good spend good $$$$ on good knives. He had knives prepared but those were not the ones that the chef was used to dealing with..

I HOPE YOU MAKE IT
May 28, 2010 3:30 pm

HA! That was the funniest line!

But I’m still not sure if it was a kidush or chilulu Hashem…

What? Nick’s (who is not Jewish) has a new orthodox family?

Also, the chef says that rabbi david looked “stoic”

haha, do you know what that means? I had to look it up:

“a person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining.”

HA!

Go Dovid!!!!!

May 27, 2010 4:17 pm

to massive chilul hashem:
firstly dovid got his smicha and he is a mashgiach for kehilla LA. second the producers took things out of context and mixed things around to make the show seem more suspenseful and give the chef more challenges, you cant blame rabbi daveed for that.
it is a big kiddush hashem.

hilarious
May 27, 2010 3:50 pm

hilarious! what a lieder! but lighten up a little and crack a smile!

to all those who are sticking up:
May 27, 2010 3:19 pm

There if a fine line in being a mashgiach and a total jerk.
I assume this Reb Dovid is a nice guy but he didnt have to go with the dramatization of the “kosher scare”. Obviously the network wanted it but it could have come across better. Teaching a new cook about kosher is not nearly as hard and without nearly as many surprises. Buy new knives maybe? Label the kitchen in advance?
But the real problem might be doing hashgacha for a mixed marrige. A Rav was hopefully asked.

Loving Chabad and feeling you!

to #28 so in your house when the lamb falls in the milcheke sink, you throw it out! what type of made up law is that. all you have to do is rinse it (if cold) . thats why they think we are nuts. your right we should not be embarrassed of our laws but we should not add crazy ones either ( dont be frumer than shulchan aruch)
ever heard of nichnas viyotsai (its in shulchan aruch) there was no meat out yet. learn and then preach

GREATEST KIDDUSH HASHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 27, 2010 2:34 pm

WHATS THERE TO BE ASHAMED OF? THIS IS KASHRUS IN ITS FULL GLORY!!!!! SINCE WHEN ARE WE ASHAMED OF SHOWING ‘THE REAL THING’.?????????????
DOVID IS A BRAVE AND EXCELLENT COOK! HE KNOWS HIS WORK AS A MASHGIACH. AND HE ALSO GOT HIS SMICHA MY DEAR. HEIS FOLLOWING THE LETTER OF THE LAW AND THATS IMPRESSIVE! PEOPLE APPRECIATE THAT YOU STICK TO YOUR STANDARDS AND NOT BE WISHY WASHY. GO DOVID GO!!!!!! YOUR BIGGEST FAN DOWN UNDER AND GREATEST ADMIRER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 27, 2010 1:00 pm

how discouraging to the viewer
how can a bochur (who i doubt got semicha) make such a chillul hashem, 3/4 of what he said was made up.
he is discouraging anyone from trying to keep kosher. we should learn to consult older smarter people before we do something that gives a name to yidden. sometimes let people who know what they are doing face the cameras.

FROM CROWN HEIGHTS.
May 27, 2010 12:25 pm

His name is Dovid Lieder, He lives in los angeles, and has a major catering buisness. shluchim from all over california, call in their orders and dovid cooks the entire shabbos for the shluchim that order, and locals can order too.
someone please post his information

I for one ordered from him and was mega impressed.

DUDU !!!!

INSULTING!!
May 27, 2010 11:14 am

Hilarious but it is totally insulting and I think it’s the oposite of a Kiddish Hashem- this chef is making it seem like a ridiculous and absurd joke- “I can’t use MY tools?!”.

nice!
May 27, 2010 11:01 am

i like this!

chilul hashem
May 27, 2010 11:00 am

interesting
May 27, 2010 11:00 am

it seems like it was made for entertainment and pr purposes…
the fact that it was videoed…the whole way its done…..

maybe the chef wants more jewsih business?

Saw the episode
May 27, 2010 10:59 am

Hey! I saw this episode a few weeks ago. It would seriously frighten off anyone considering keeping Kosher.

question
May 27, 2010 10:59 am

the chef cant touch the dates?

chillul Hashem
May 27, 2010 10:58 am

This is not hashgasha but just someone who has a little knowledge of keeping kosher – heard a few things and ran with them. There is no reason the mashgiach needs to be in the way. If he wants to check for bugs – it should be done with great speed. The chances of finding bugs in packaged rice and Califiornia dates is nill. In the meantime – this video makes fun of frumkite.
