Each week Dovid Taub finds something strange in the Parshah and follows the trail through Torah sources. This week he starts with the “Avos Nezikin” described at the beginning of Maseches Bava Kamma, which each come from pesukim in Parshas Mishpatim. Rather than focusing on what the gemara is actually teaching there, Taub grabs onto the word “avos” – “fathers” – and follows the path it leads him on.

Of course! The Gemara (sof Ms Eruchin) explains that the “worth” a person
goes up from age 30 days till age 60. After 60 it drops,and stays like that for the rest of his/her life. The drop by a male is larger than by a female,because, explains the Gemara, b/c an old woman is more useful than an old man.
Hence an old man in the house is “Nezikin”, while an old woman is a “Bracha”. So much for “Male Superiority.”
