On Sunday night, May 23, Chabad at the University of Illinois held its annual celebration event, highlighting Chabad’s work on Campus not just for today, but in creating the leaders of tomorrow.
Close to 200 people came together to celebrate the work of Chabad at the University of Illinois and recognize the parents of the year Brian and Andrea Birkan.
Also honored were 24 students that dedicate their time to being on the Chabad Leadership Board, putting in long hours to create a vibrant Jewish life on campus.
The special event was organized by alumni, their parents and friends.
In only 7 years since its founding by Rabbi Dovid and Goldie Tiechtel, Illini Chabad has grown to a huge center with over 1500 students involved their many programs and activities. Over 100 students attend Friday night dinner each week, and they have created a full Kosher meal program in the dorms, among many other programs.
