A group of 10 soldiers wounded in the last Gaza war and the second Lebanon war left Sunday for a vacation in Australia, providing a much-needed respite from their medical rehabilitation.
When they arrived in the airport for departure, a Chabad representative greeted them with a special welcome ceremony, and an El AL representative accompanied the group to the VIP Lounge where they received first class treatment.
As the plane took off the captain announced a welcome to the Chabad group and the IDF veterans, and they received a very special round of applause.
At the request of the group’s organizer, Rabbi Menachem Kutner of Chabad’s Terror Victims Project, the soldiers where briefly allowed to tour the cockpit.
Rabbi Yossi Swerdlov thanked EL AL for the great respect given to the soldiers during their trip.
While in Australia, the veterans will be guests of the Shliach Rabbi Yaakov Barber of Melbourne. After the vacation they will return to their medical rehabilitation.
