Bais Shmuel Chabad of Crown Heights presented “Saluting a Chayal in Gaza,” the story of a young man who put everything on hold for the land of Israel and its people, at the Jewish Children’s Museum.
Mendel, raised in Jerusalem in a family of Shluchim, attended Chabad Yeshivos and then joined the Hesder Yeshiva of Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, where army service is combined with Torah study. In his civilian life, Mendel works at the Jerusalem investment firm Exigent as a financial analyst.
Mendel spoke passionately about the war in Gaza, and related how important it is for Jewish people from around the world to visit Israel and give Chizuk to the IDF soldiers on the front lines, as well as the people who are under attack.
He told of the open miracles being seen every day, while on the front lines, as well as the continued chayus and encouragement they receive from the visits and gifts sent to the soldiers.

The sacrifices of our soldiers are certainly inspiring. I hope and pray that the government of Israel manages to resist pressure to stop, and continues until victory is attained. And I hope and pray that the necessity of this victory is understood. It cannot just be about bringing back the hostages. That is necessary but not sufficient. We must anihilate Hamas from this Earth.
