Ice Menorah Occupies 5th Ave.

As thousands of holiday shoppers, tourists and business people streamed past, a 12 foot ice menorah was sculpted and lit in front of Chabad of Midtown.

Situated on Fifth Avenue off 42nd Street – one of the busiest corners on earth – this event was a real example of “Persumei Nissa” and was witnessed by many in the hordes who stopped in their tracks.

Using chainsaws, chisels and large ice bricks, professional “ice men” sculpted the tall, exquisite ice menorah.

Rabbi Yehoshua Metzger of Chabad of Midtown climbed a ladder to kindle the lanterns and made the blessings before the large crowds.

Hundreds of menorahs, donuts, dreidels and latkes were distributed to the crowds in attendance
