The Lubavitch publishing house, Kehot Publication Society, has just released Staying the Course: a Collection of Discourses by the Chabad Rebbes on the Inseparable Bond between Rebbe and Chasid.
Twenty-eighth in the bestselling Chassidic Heritage Series, Staying the Course discusses the various ways through which a Chassid can continue to nurture and renew the unique Rebbe-Chassid bond, and how those new to Chassidic teachings and life could establish this soulful connection.
The tract includes translations of original texts by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi; Rabbi DovBer of Lubavitch; Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch and the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory.
The Chassidic texts bring fresh meaning to the Zohar’s statements that “when a righteous person departs this world he is to be found in all the worlds more than during his lifetime,” and that “The righteous shield the world; and after their death even more than during their life.”
The texts were translated by Rabbi Shmuel Simpson and annotated by Kehot editor Rabbi Avraham D. Vaisfiche.
“The Rebbe has written that sponsoring a book in honor of a happy occasion or, G-d forbid, in commemoration of the passing of a loved one, is the ideal way to memorialize a friend or family member for generations to come,” says Kehot director Rabbi Yosef B. Friedman, who credits the publication of Staying the Course to the generosity of Mrs. Susan Schapiro of Highland Park, Illinois, and Mr. Robert Weiss of Long Island.
The Chassidic Heritage Series offers user-friendly translations of classic Chassidic discourses. The translations have been thoughtfully prepared to facilitate the reader’s thorough comprehension without assuming much prior knowledge.
To this end, the text features an extensive introduction, a vowelized Hebrew text, and captions for easy reference, and footnotes that explain obscure concepts and source references for further study.
A comprehensive introduction by noted Chassidic scholar Rabbi Manis Friedman brings home the messages contained in this vital work:
