Forbes Magazine has ranked Fresh Diet number 15 on its list of the 100 America’s Most Promising Companies for the year of 2011.
Zalmi Duchman, a 31 year-old Lubavitcher, founded the company in 2005 in his apartment, with $500 on a credit card. 5 years later he raised $2 million from private investors.
Fresh Diet delivers a day’s worth of healthy food (three meals and two snacks) to customers who pay weekly or monthly subscription fees,” Forbes wrote.
In January 2006, a new line in South Florida called “Kosher Fresh Diet” was launched and has since expanded to the the Northeast corridor. Certified by the Orthodox Union (OU), it is run by Duchman’s brother Ezzy Duchman.
Today, the company employs 160 people and serves major U.S. metros including New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. Its revenue, according to Forbes, is $17 million.
