Over 120 young professionals and students gathered at the Bronfman Center downtown Manhattan to hear the megilla, eat the purim meal and pack and deliver Mishloach Manos to frail and lonely Holocaust survivors around NYC.
In collaboration with Chabad of NYU, Hillels of Columbia, NYU, Baruch and YU and Stern Colleges, we brought the Joy of Purim to a most neglected population.
At iVolunteer’s 4th annual Purim party the energy was palpable in the room. Joey Backman, an attorney and volunteer said: “There are dozens of purim parties to go to in the city, but none with the opportunity to include a Holocaust survivor in our celebrations. It’s my honor to partake in such an event and wonderful organization”
Megilla readings were organized for survivors in their homes too. There were some seniors who heard the megilla being lained for the first time in their lives.
iVolunteer is happy to announce the opening of a new branch in Florida in the Spring.
What a fantastic way to celebrate Jewish pride and survival.
