The third grade of Bais Rivkah in Crown Heights was treated to a remarkable moment in time when they had a Zoom meeting with Mrs. Tuky Treitel of Montreal, Canada.
Organized by the Primary principal, Mrs. Dinah Brawer, and Mrs. Gittie Sternberg, the girls were instructed to prepare questions that interested them which Tuky so graciously addressed in the meeting.
While reading the chapter book Tuky, The Story of a Hidden Child, (written by Shternie (Treitel) Rosenfeld and published by Hachai) as a class novel this spring, the anticipation of meeting the “real” Tuky constantly gained momentum.
Mrs. Treitel, “Tuky,” who is the iconic definition of emunah, was a reassuring, living fact that we are all in Hashem’s hands. She discussed such thought-provoking concepts such as hashgacha pratis, kabolas ol, pikuach nefesh, and the mindfulness of thanking Hashem for every moment of every day.
The highlight of this notable experience was when Tuky was able to share her incredible embroidery that is such a colorful part of the story.
“In this sobering time we are going through, it was inspiring to see the beautiful Tuky, Mrs. Treitel, and know that she is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,” organizers said.
The students were thrilled to show Tuky their own embroidery that one teacher did with her class, inspired by the book.
