This past Sunday, hundreds of Long Island residents joined for the official grand opening of Chabad of Hewlett, directed by Rabbi Nochem and Rivkie Tenenboim.
The Chabad Center, located at 1160 Broadway, has been open for a number of classes and events over the past few weeks, but had yet to be officially inaugurated.
At the event, the atmosphere was extremely warm and welcoming, thanks to the diverse group of people who attended the event. Participants mingled over refreshments, and were informed of the new and exciting programs that will be launched at the Chabad House.
Mr. Joe Cohen, member of Chabad of Hewlett, was honored with affixing the Mezuzah on the main entrance of the Chabad House.
The younger attendees were invited to join in a special program, including making and decorating their own mezuzah cases to bring home.
Adding to the joy of the occasion was the commencement of the writing of a Sefer Torah. All attendees were invited to write a letter in the Torah, assisted by Crown Heights sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein, which, when completed, will make its home at the Chabad House of Hewlett.
Many thanks to all those who contributed and participated in the Chanukas HaBayis, with special acknowledgment to Mr. Joel Baruch from Gotta Getta Bagel, Mix Entertainment Pro & photographer, Exo Photography, and Rabbi Zalman and Chani Wolowik from Chabad of Five Towns.
