The campers and staff members that filled Camp Emunah the past two months with happy voices and cheers have already gone home, yet this Shabbos will not be a silent one in Greenfield Park, NY.
Over 150 men, women, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – all members of the Hecht family – have come from as close as New York and as far as Australia to spend the weekend there.
The occasion: The family matriarch, Rebbetzin Chava Hecht‘s 85th birthday.
She is hosting the family in the first Chabad girls camp she has run with her late husband, the legendary activist Rabbi JJ Hecht OBM, since its inception in 1953.
A full schedule is planned with the family davening, eating the Shabbos meals together and sharing the milestone.
On Motzoei Shabbos a festive Melave Malka will be held in Rebbetzin Hecht’s honor.
“She is very happy and excited to be with all her einiklach and ohr-einiklach,” a family member told COLlive.com on Friday as they were making their way up to the Catskills.
Machane Emunah is my home during the summer and having rebbetzin Hecht as a my bubby mamesh makes it my family. Thank you so much bubby hecht. till 120in gezunte health!
