ChabaDenmark organized a unique Simchas Beis Hashoeva, combined with a re-enactment of the dramatic escape of the majority of the Danish Jews exactly 70 years ago.
130 participants joined this historic ride, which was truly a remarkable journey. The group traveled the same route many Danish Jews took then, whilst some of the survivors shared their amazing stories. Upon reaching the Swedish line, kaddish was recited in loving memory of those who did not survive.
All present recited the blessing- sheasa nes bamokem hazeh- “With thanks for having wrought a miracle in this place.”
It was a very moving and powerful moment. The return trip brought a mood of happiness and thankgsiving with food, music and festivities. Participants shook the lulav and esrog, many of whom had never before done so. Many participants braved the windy sukkah on board, to recite the Bracha and have a quick bite.

it’s funny because my mother was also on that boat and made it with hashems hellp
My father Paul Nachum, was not alone rowing.
Out of 12 grown up, 4 men was supposed to row.
1 got seasick, and 1 had a mental brake down.
So a old weak man, and my strong father had to row.
So the zig zagged to Sweden, changing side all the time.
