The NYPD is investigating a report of possible vandalism at a mainly Jewish cemetery in Brooklyn.
On Sunday, a NYPD spokesman said the department’s hate crimes division has been notified of headstones found toppled over at Washington Cemetery.
Assemblyman Dov Hikind tweeted photos of the toppled headstones on Saturday night and vowed to go at the cemetery early Sunday to see them in person.
The same cemetery was also targeted by vandals in 2010 — two hundred headstones were toppled in that wave of violence, the Times of Israel reports.
A Jewish cemetery in Rochester, N.Y., also suffered a possible instance of vandalism Thursday. The nonprofit managing the site suggested there is no proof the incident was a hate crime, Haaretz reports.
