Mayanot is a leading Birthright trip provider, bringing thousands of young Jewish adults to Israel each year. For many of them, their Birthright trip with Mayanot is their first contact with Israel and Jewish life.

To deepen and enrich that experience, Mayanot developed the Mayanot Shabbat Companion, a comprehensive 200 page, easy to follow, easy to use, bencher for people of all levels of observance.

It meant that all Mayanot Birthright participants could enjoy a meaningful Shabbat, regardless of their Jewish knowledge.

The Mayanot Shabbat Companion proved to be very popular, the participants were grateful for the translations, transliterations and inspirational stories, which helped them take part more fully in the Shabbat prayers and songs.

Due to its success, Mayanot decided to make it available for everyone. Bringing together all their expertise, Mayanot has created the ‘Mayanot Shabbat Companion’, designed and tailored to the needs of all levels of observance.

Thanks to the generosity and support of Martin and Melanie Glatt and Mayer and Naomi Gniwisch and the entire Gniwisch family of Montreal, the Mayanot Shabbat Companion is affordable, and ready to be shared and used on Shabbat tables across the world.

Thanks was also given to Haki Abehsera of Visionary Flock Design Company for designing the cover pro bono.

“It is an exciting new step for Mayanot, who continues to cross frontiers, to be at the forefront of Jewish education,” said Dean Rabbi Shlomo Gestetner.
