Costa Rica, here we come!
A new 10 day traveling summer camp in the popular Central American country for Lubavitch High School girls is promising to give 20 teenage girls a trip of a lifetime.
The camp, started by Kiki Halperin and Tzippy Spalter, is under the auspices of the Head Shluchim to Costa Rica, Rabbi Hershel and Chana Spalter.
The adventurous camp in one of the most highly valued tourist destinations in the world will be available for girls aged 16-17, as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to grow, explore, and recharge before beginning the new school year.
Many girls of this age will dedicate the most part of their vacation to assisting Shluchim in Gan Israel day and overnight camps around the world, working tirelessly as counselors and staff members.
“We remember from our own experiences, that although we absolutely loved working in CGIs and learning from the Shluchim who ran them, we also wished we could still have the opportunity to be a camper – to be on the receiving end too,” Tzippy Spalter says.
That’s why she and her friend decided to team up and create an enriching way to end off their summer. Kiki Halperin will oversee the Ruchniyus program and Tzippy Spalter will handle the Gashmiyus aspect in accordance with her parents, the local Shluchim.
“We have one goal – to give 20 girls the best 10-day camp experience they will ever have, both in Ruchniyus and Gashmius, in a beautiful, exotic country,” Halperin told COLlive.com.
The daily schedule will include learning, davening, and shiurim with Rabbi Spalter. Then the group will head out for sightseeing, touring, and exploring the exotic rainforests, beaches and islands of Costa Rica.
Trips will include volcanoes, hot springs, white water rafting, zip-lining, mountain biking and waterfalls.
More than just a fun and thrilling experience, the girls will also gain personally with farbrengens, workshops and discussions on topics not often covered in a school setting.
“We want the girls to challenge themselves, to grow and reach new heights that they have never reached before,” said Halperin. “Our program will aim to foster a love and pride for being a Lubavitcher in each girl.”
The camp runs from August 19-29. All the trips are planned with the Shluchim and experienced travel guides to ensure the utmost safety.

Not all of us are millionaires!!!!!
so only the rich kids get to go
My sister went a couple of years ago, stayed at the shluchim’s house and went for a walk to the park (I think it was down the block) and her camera was pulled off her neck. When she tried chasing the guy, n/o could give a hoot! So yeah, be careful!
no-one has been officialy accepted yet. i was told that acceptance letters will be sent out only once all applications come in…
Good luck!
As a mother it is so nice to know that people are thinking of our daughters and looking for ways to inspire them.
