Students of Bais Chana High School reenacted the court case of the Bais Din shel Maalah deciding whether or not the Alter Rebbe should be released from prison.
Under the guidance of Likkutei Sichos teacher, Miss Hadassah Silberstein, students cited sources from Chumash, Mishnayos and Gemara arguing their case as prosecutors and defendants.
A witness was brought on the side of the prosecution stating that the spreading of Chassidus can ch’v lead to the despair felt by Jewry during the times of Shabtai Tzvi, with a final statement that a drop of Chassidus in enough for today’s generation. The world is not ready for more.
A passionate plea on the part of the defendants argued that the world today is disconnected and unless we bring Chassidus to the masses, so that people can know and understand Hashem in a very real way, there is a serious threat to the future of Yiddishkeit. The courtroom was presided over by the honorable judge, Rabbi Mendy Hecht, who asked the jury, the rest of BCA students, to make their final decision.
