Lag Ba’Omer was celebrated by Rohr Bais Chaya Academy with an evening barbeque, sporting activities and chassidishe niggunim around the bonfire.
On Thursday the students went on a field trip and learned the sport of archery to celebrate Lag Ba’Omer in style. The girls learned the significance of the bow (keshes), which also translates as a rainbow.
The rainbow first appeared after the Mabul and represents G-d’s promise to never again destroy the world by flood. The rainbow appears when the world is deserving of punishment. The merit of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai protected his entire generation and no rainbow appeared during his lifetime.
Lag Ba’Omer is a day of bonfires, Chabad House picnics, bows and arrows in the park. And as Chassidim, the deeper implications of Lag B’Omer are at the forefront of our minds.
Today marks the gilui of Toras Hanistar, and ultimately Toras HaChassidus, and with that revelation of light comes our responsibility to pass it on to our children. And as we relate the story of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai learning in his cave and Rabbi Akiva giving up his life for the sake of teaching Torah, the importance of education becomes even clearer. Because as busy as we are, the chinuch of our children is always of paramount importance.
In honor of this momentous day, Rohr Bais Chaya is offering a discounted registration (upon acceptance) of only $99 for all incoming 9th graders for applications received between 18th and 22nd of Iyar.

Being on shelichus we had to send our children away to many and varied moisdos chinuch and I can honestly say Baid Chaya has been the best. Organisation, teachers feedback, care for the kids, and most importantly the chassidishkeit is given over with love and respect. I highly recommend the school!
