Gimmel Tammuz Gathering in 770

Visiting chassidim, Crown Heights residents and 770 bochurim gathered on Monday night to mark the 20th Gimmel Tammuz in an event organized by Igud Avreichim organization.

It came on the heels of a successful unity gathering in front of Lubavitch Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway which drew a crowd of 4,000 last week.

The event which took place in 770’s main shul was opened with a video of the Rebbe speaking with pain about the bitter darkness of the lengthy exile.

Emceeing the event was Rabbi Sholom Schapiro who invited R’ Chaim Serebryansky, an elder local chossid, with saying the Rebbe’s kapital in Tehillim.

Rabbi Menachem Dubruskin, a Mashpia in the Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Migdal Haemek in Israel, addressed the responsibility of the “7th generation” as the one who will bring the redemption.

The guest speaker was Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar who has witnessed and helped actualize the revival of the Jewish community in the former Soviet Union.

He spoke about the dangerous lives Jews have led under Communism and how the ones who survived were the chassidim – those who were stringent in keeping Mitzvos.

“We also need to put aside our will and operate with self-sacrifice,” he said, emphasizing the importance of unity among chassidim and the united belief in the coming of Moshiach.

The final speaker was Rabbi Zalman Liberow, Director of Chabad of Flatbush, who called on the crowd to take part in practical activities to further unity and help bring Moshiach.
