Chavi Friedberg, a student of Bais Rivkah High School, passed away in 1990 at the young age of 18.
In honor of her yartzeit on the 29th of Av, a group of her classmates set up the ‘Chavi Friedberg Ahavas Yisroel Fund’ to raise money for a program to support teenage girls who are struggling socially and to provide them with a healthy self-esteem.
‘Chavi’s Club’ is designed to be an inclusive three month program, promoting awareness of the importance of Ahavas Yisroel.
Last year, an impressive number of students from Bais Rivkah’s 9th Grade participated in the club.
“This club wasn’t just about a checklist, rather it was an ongoing outlet for girls to go above and beyond to reach out and include others. It brought such a great awareness that even a small, seemingly insignificant action, like giving a genuine compliment, can uplift a girl and that girl can go and affect others as well,” said one girl.
Another added, “Being that I just finished three months of ‘Chavi’s Club,’ I would recommend it to every school. It’s a club you feel proud to be part of and accomplish amazing things.”
This year we hope to not only repeat ‘Chavi’s Club’ in Bais Rivkah for its second year, but also to launch our exciting program in Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School in London, England.
A child without friends is in a very lonely place. Please support us in this very special mitzvah. No girl should suffer alone. Every girl needs the support of friends.
This fund is under the auspices of Lubavitch Youth Organization.
The Neshama of Chava Faiga Leah bas Elimelech HaLevi A”H should have an aliyah.

Can we get this program to also be in other schools aside as well, aside from BR?
She was a good person lived across the street watched her grow up her family would be very grateful for this and to never forget her or anyone else we are all Hashams children may we see the end of golous and all our loved ones NOW
Such an amazing program!!!!!
Many years ago I had the idea that if I had the money to do anything I wanted, one thing might be to start a yeshivah (not making a nadir here, just expressing an idea of something that might have been possible if I had the money and if I at the time I had it, thought there was no other cause more worthwhile to do with the money, and no other reason not to) where ahavas yisroel was one of the main things to focus on. One requirement of such a yeshivah might be for bachurim to go out… Read more »
So special that this is done in her memory!
I remember her too!
And everyone could use a boost..
Just remember the snob probably needs more self-esteem than the so called {left out girl}. A confident girl does not need to leave anyone out, to feel secure.
Born psycologist : )
What a lovely idea for a club. Halevai every school/yeshiva had a mivtzah like this.
girls do need that self-esteem boost, all the teens need it. Actually…..all human beings need it
and schools should TRAIN THEIR STAFF to do this as naturally as opening a door or taking a glass of water.
This will bring Moshiach!! That’s is such a wonderful idea!!!
Her father should also have a lictig gan Aiden. Very few know in the early days of nesius he spend most of his time in the Daled Amos of the rebbi!!!
I remember her mother A”H well, and I remember when Chavi passed away. It’s strange, I was just thinking about them both the other day. I no longer live in CH but I would like to donate something. Too much suffering over the years.
