It was another perfect Shabbos and ski getaway for the vibrant young Bnei Aliya.
It was set in beautiful home in upstate NY, surrounded by nature, delicious Shabbos meals, no cell phones and an amazing group of guys. It was the perfect setting to reconnect and experience Shabbos.
The meals were extremely uplifting and everyone at the table shared their mind at every meal. The most uplifting thing that was experienced on the Shabbaton was a tremendous level of ahavas yisroel. There was a true sense of camaraderie and putting another ones needs before one’s own.
One beautiful example was when one of the members still new to skiing and was having a difficult time getting down the mountain. Mordy Spielman literally took him by the hand and guided him down the mountain, time and time again. Mordy was happy to focus on helping another rather than his own fun.
Another beautiful example was when the boys came into the cafeteria to warm up and have some lunch. A man noticed our group and approached asking if we could help him make a minyan for Mincha in another room so he could say kaddish. A minyan for mincha was not on the top of anyone’s minds at that moment yet Nachman Blizinsky happily got up and encouraged the others to do the same and made sure he had a minyan.
In the beginning of the trip some of the guys were closer than others but by the end of the trip everyone was family! When we finally arrived in Crown Heights after a long rainy drive Reuven Zulaf volunteered to take everyone home door to door including the two young men that live in Flatbush.
These are just a few of the countless acts of Ahavas Yisroel that we at Aliya are fortunate enough to witness all the time especially on an Aliya Shabbatons.
While driving home from Hunter Mountain Sunday night everyone shared how grateful and appreciative they were for Aliya making such an amazing trip and to all the people that helped make the trip so special.
Special thanks go to the anonymous family that generously shared their vacation home with Aliya, Rebetzin Feiglin, Mrs. Malka who sponsored a large portion of the food in memory of her husband Dovid Malka, Moishe Rubashkin, House of Glatt, Gombo’s and Moishe Gurkov for helping with the food and Reb Moishe Feiglin, Reb Note Shemtov and Reb Mendy Baitz for putting this amazing Shabbaton together.
A very grateful Aliya member
