R'Gedalia Shafer
April 30, 2009 8:05 am

I was one of R’Gedalia Shafer’s first Machon Chana students in his dining room, which to see it again brought tears to my eyes, and I was zoche ot see firsthand what a chassidishe marriage is. R’Gedalia’s gorgeous wife used to bring him tea and the unbelievalbe respect and love we machon chana girls who were newbies in yiddishkeit saw in that room was a model for us for our own marriage. R’Gedalia taught us chasides but his wife and him showed us how to be married. May Hashem bless his family with kol tuv and may they have only… Read more »

I’m not sure how asking people NOT to do what was done to this Tzaddik can be a problem. He was an incredible person, and because someone ELSE was driving drunk, he is not here. I’ve personally witnessed many bochurim and even anash driving home from farbrengen after having had mashke. I am pointing out to everyone that it is not okay. R’ Gedaliah was a totally innocent person just going down the street when this was done. b. you are completely right. He did leave behind an unbelievable family who truly emulate his ways. He taught them well. May… Read more »

A lesson from the manner of his p'tirah

Aside from all the other amazing things we can learn from the tzaddik, R’ Gedaliah Shaffer, let us not take the manner in which he was killed for granted. Let EVERY ONE of anash world wide know that IT IS NEVER OKAY TO DRIVE DRUNK!!!! He might be here today if some shagetz had been sober when he killed R’ Gedaliah

It is tearjerking to see the pictures of Gedaliah Shaffer. It’s is painfully difficult to swallow the true fact that he is no longer with us. What a man! What a family! I know many members of the Shaffer/Slavin family and if only every person would have the opportunity to have a glimpse into this incredible family – and take lessons from them – this world would indeed be a far better place. May we be zoiche to the geulah shlaima b’koruv – haikitzu v’raninu shochnei ofor!!
