In 1976, the Shluchim to the French Riviera and Corsica, Rabbi Yosef and Mrs. Sara Pinson, along with their 9 month old daughter, arrived in Nice, France, with a mission to impact the Jewish community of the region renowned for its beauty.
In 1979, the foundational piece of their mission became clear: They needed to offer the young Jewish families a new and innovative way to educate their children.
With a blessing from the Rebbe, a new school named Kerem Menachem was founded with 5 students, 2 of them the Pinsons’ own.
Forty years later, Kerem Menachem is an institution that is a home for hundreds of students. The school is known for giving the students warmth, love, real values, Jewish pride, deep attachment to Torah and Mitzvot, openness, acceptance and the highest academic standards, in an environment that shows boundless care and goes above and beyond the call of duty for each and every child and their family.
Thousands of alumni, spread throughout the globe, many of them current parents of Kerem Menachem students, are inspired daily by their early years at what they lovingly call, “Kerem Menachem, the school I love.”
Last Saturday night, on November 19th, 500 people gathered in the hall of the world famous Negresco Hotel for a prestigious gala, celebrating the 40th year of this very special institution.
The evening was a tremendous success. Community leaders and supporters of Chabad from throughout the Riviera were present to show their support.
“The sky is the limit!” was the theme of the night, with the goal of upping the ante for the upcoming 2019 year, raising funds to enable an increase in programming and educational advances. The funds were quickly raised, exceeding the expected goal!
All the participants left feeling uplifted and thanking the Shluchim profusely for the wonderful evening.
