A last-minute Menorah lighting outside the Hypercacher kosher supermarket in Paris, France, drew 350 people.
Rabbi David Attlan, Chabad Shliach in the 20th arrondissement, filed for a permit to hold a Chanukah event outside the store in Porte de Vincennes.
Despite the permit only being received late on Monday night, the large crowd showed up to celebrate the holiday in the cold weather.
4 Jewish people were murdered in cold blood during an Islamic terror attack on the kosher store in 2015.
The names of the slain Jews were mentioned before the lighting ceremony. Also mentioned were the murdered at the Chabad center in Mumbai, India, and the Jewish school in Toulouse, France.
Honored with lighting the Menorah made out of 1500kg of ice was Rabbi Shalom Rebibo of the local Sephardic community and young members of Chabad.
Each candle was one bonfire, which the strong wind at night could not extinguish. The lighting symbolized the advantage of light over darkness.
Children from all local communities sang Chanukah songs together accompanied by musician Yisrael Oaki.
Freilachen Chanukah, משיח כאו!!
