Newly digitized footage from VHS shows the performance of the Chabad “Hachana Niggun” by a Jewish Russian folk group.

Notice the Soviet Hammer and Sickle on the curtains, which means this was in a former communist theater. Who would imagine that a couple of bochrim would ever be able to gather 1,000 Jews there and publicly perform a Chabad tune.
Even though it’s been 27 years since, I don’t think the miracle has truly sunk in yet.
And if THAT could change in more or less an instant, it gives us hope for the future geulah also coming in an instant.

While this is the niggun that we sing before maamim are recited, this is not “the” niggun hachono, which is sung before the arba babos.
