52 people died in La Plata and an estimated 20,000 people were affected in S. Fernando from a major storm last month in Argentina.
Two Chabad centers were severely damaged as well from the heavy floods.
At Beit Chabad La Plata, directed by Rabbi Tuvia Serber, the water reached 2 feet ruining all the seforim, wooden furniture, doors and chairs.
“The whole place will have to be painted again, since the mark left on the walls and doors includes ashes from a petroleum refinery in the nearby city of Ensenada that exploded during the storm,” the Shliach said.
In Beit Chabad S. Fernando water was coming down from the roof, said Rabbi Moshe Abudarham.
The roof, the library, sefarim, walls and doors were ruined, leaving it uninhabitable, which prevents services and programs from being held.
“The economy in Argentina is not well, which makes it very difficult to raise the funds needed for the repairing,” he said.
To support the effort to rebuild these centers, make a donation on PayPal or, if you need a tax deductible receipt, send a check to Chabad of Argentina Relief, Inc., 675 Third Avenue, Suite 3210, New York, NY 10017, specifying in the memo Chabad La Plata or Chabad S. Fernando.
There was a large storm, water leaked through roof, with a minor flood in the Shul.
Bahía Blanca is 700 kilometers from Buenos Aires. No storm in Bahía Blanca BH
Why not? What’s the connection between bahia blanca and that part of Buenos Aires?
Moshiach now
Did the Chabad house there survive? Anyone know?
terrible maybe all the people that are siting and reading and writing coments here should be useful and give money to fix the chabad house instead of reading and comenting on the disaster
