A letter from the Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC), Zaki Tamir:
Dear Member of the Shchuna,
The job crisis in this country has left nearly 8 million people without jobs, and has strongly affected most people in Crown Heights. In the past, we have relied heavily on government support, but this is starting to diminish. In the last few weeks the government has cut off nearly 1.3 million people from receiving their extended unemployment benefits.
The Machatzis Hashekel Project (MHCH.info), has been designed to get members of our own community to help each other. The project was founded by an experienced team of executives, Aaron Vogel, Ronnie Rendel and Nissim Adry, who have all graciously volunteered their time and resources to create and build this vital service to CHJCC for the benefit of the Crown Heights community.
The long-term solution to the employment crisis is not going to come through government grants or local fundraising. We need to create job opportunities by attracting private businesses to invest into Crown Heights and thereby bring money into Crown Heights, as well as create the infrastructure for developing small businesses and ventures from within our community.
Before the end of this summer, the CHJCC will be offering two new business ventures made possible by the community-volunteers at MHCH. The two ventures are, 1. Full service DMV operations, and 2. Passport/Visa Application Services, right here on Kingston Ave. This is just the start of many business relationships that are designed to generate income for the community through the CHJCC whilst providing a much-needed service to the residents of Crown Heights.
The highest level of Tzedakah is to give someone a parnassah, and with this in mind, we have established the Employment Committee to the CHJCC, as we are in fact venturing into the establishment of an all new Career Development Center, spearheaded by volunteers from our community, and managed by MHCH.
Starting this week, we will be opening a call center which will allow members of our community to gain employment, work their own hours, and make an hourly income that would require only limited initial training.
Considering that many people have larger families, it is necessary for our community to offer real jobs, with wages that can respectably support a family. However, businesses like the Call Center offer excellent part time supplemental income, and most importantly—it offers this immediately and with little training and time investment.
In order to take job creation to the next level, the MHCH Career Development Center will be offering a range of top-quality, technology-focused courses designed to give individuals the skills necessary for employment and business management in the Internet age. These include courses in Web Design and Development, Internet Marketing, and Business Management. Our vision is to leverage the incredible intellectual resources abundant in our community to create pockets of new wealth creation in the technology and Internet space.
Following a highly successful pilot program, MHCH will shortly be starting a ‘Certified Web Developer Course’. The course is an intensive 144 hours led by Adry and Rendel, both bringing a great deal of experience in technology based businesses. Several companies have already vouched placement for successful course graduates.
Other graduates will be slated for development and management roles in several new community based Internet ventures, ranging from ecommerce to web publishing. Graduates will also be competing for executive level positions in other projects.
If you are interested in these career development courses please contact the MHCH Career Development Center at (347) 770-JOBS (347-770-5627).
With a special thanks to Rabbi Dovid Fischer, and Mr. Greens for their donations of $5,000.00 each to the Job Creation Project, this project has taken off to a great start and I hope to see your continued support as more and more progress is made. This is a time that marks a turning point in the way our community addresses issues and it will certainly improve the satisfaction and physical well-being of members of our community.
Sincerely,
Zaki

YOU ARE REALLY MOVING THINGS ALONG. GOOD JOB AND THUMBS UP.
you can right what ever you want about Rabbi Marlow O”H, but as long as you dont produce a letter or other means to back up what you say that Rabbi said, is is all heresay and NOT true. I sopke with Rabbi Marlow and asked him if what they are saying in his name is true and he answered Did you see a letter from me with signiture, as was his way of saying dont beleive any one unless you can back it up with a letter, with regards to what #62 said that Zaki spoke with Rabbi’s Osdoba… Read more »
I just asked Zaki if it is true that it is against halachah to accept $$$$$ from Rabbi Dovid Fischer and he said that he asked Rabbi Osdaba and Rabbi Shvei and they both said that it is ok. Hatzlacha Rabbah!
Let us all forgive and forget.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!!!!
the point is that there is money coming in, and yes im sure he spoke to rabonnim.
keep it up
Zaki, we just heard the great news!
Thank you very much for creating true Achdus in the community, as a Hakdama to bringing together all the 4 minim on sukkos….
Chazak v ematz!
As the Rebbe wrote in a heoroh from Sefori: that chamisha asar bav is the gematria of ksiva vchasima tova.
Shana Tova
I have a friend that called the number Tuesday night and was told that he was the 80th caller and the class is only for 15 people. Chanina should be recruited to try to get people Jobs. He has done so before he got many people Jobs. If Shea can help in this he certainlly should be recruited.
Zaki Tamir is enhancing our community as we know it!!
We must embrace the good the rebbe is doing for us, and work together with the gift of an amazing “Va’ad Hakohol”
Boruch Hashem
B”H To #46 and #48, we hit the max of 15 students, just because we only have enough space and workstations for 15 for now. With that said, some people are going to try to connect online, since we are trying to set up live streaming for the course. Please call the hotline again (347) 770-JOBS if you want to join online, no guarantees on this one though since it’s the first time we’re setting up something like this. Otherwise, we want to do courses on Internet Marketing and Video Production after Tishrey. We’re looking for real good instructors for… Read more »
To all those concerned with “stolen” money from the community, all Zaki is doing is putting it back into the community. Also, his reputation has shown that he consults with Rabbonim and listens to them. If s/t was not kosher he would give up on the check like he did on his first candidacy.
lets do it.
ty zaki for all
I wish I had voted for Zaki Tamir, I feel indebted to you for not voting for you, but this all comes to show how everything is in he hands of Hashem!! 🙂
I agree with #50, the chutzpuh ppl. have is disgusting…
Zaki B”H you are an angel sent from above, keep moving fwd. you are doing an unbelievable job!!
If you are so well informed, where were you in 2000 when Rav Marlow Z”L was pleading with the Vaad Hakohol of then (Chazan, Nash & co.) to finish with Fisher & to remove the nidui against him? Why didn’t you demand from the Vaad to respect Rav Marlow wishes so he can die without having a nidui attached to him, something which is very bad for the Neshama? Why did you support the Vaad’s fight against Rav Marlow in his final days of his life? There are far too many witnesses that heard from Rav Marlow Z”L this request… Read more »
Finally there’s action!… results!… websites!… lemonade stands!?
Just called for a course. they told me sold out until after Tishrei.
It’s about time we realized that government is out of money. True they have taken our money in the form of fees and taxes and promised services in return, but they lied and now they have no money. We can complain like other people in Crown Heights do, (especially those who live on the other side of Eastern Parkway) or we can man up and start taking care of own needs without waiting for the government to help (because they ain’t comin). Kol Hakavod to Zaki for manning up and actually caring for the community’s needs.
Sounds beautiful, but I just called and I was told the Web Development course is solidly booked at 15 people. I guess it was too good to be true.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ZAKI AARON NISSAN RONNIE AND ALL THE OTHERS WHO ARE HELPING THIS CAUSE.
At the beginning, I didn’t know who will vote for you. too young, too modern, too Professional, but I must say, as I see the ball rolling i can defiantly say you are doing the right things. I believe in your capabilities and i will introduce myself to you next time I’ll see you
The idea is to bring more services to the community, and at the same time funds which are going to other places.
More ideas are always welcomed and appreciated if you can please email ideas@mhch.info
Thank you
I guess I definitely need to explain myself here (although I’m glad to see this issue in general is important to everyone). Reading my comment again, it definitely came out wrong and I understand why some people thought it was stupid. In hindsight if I wanted to write something like this I should have written a long enough essay that actually explains what I mean beofen hamiskabel, and probably should have posted it on my blog, not here. The point I wanted to make was more emotional and for farbrengen then practical advice for today. What I meant to say… Read more »
Please everyone let’s think about the goal and not the individual points that may be speculated on and ridiculed. Ronnie Rendel and Nissan Adry work tirelessly night and day (literally) to help the residents of our community
achieve more.
Tracht gut v’et zayn gut.
If we focus on the good we can do more.
I look forward IY”H to see more people get trained and obtain good jobs, Ronnie Rendel and Nissan Adry have done this for many people for over a year B”H.
Thank you and Hatzlacha Rabba
GO Man! You the Man. Boruch Hashem. Finallyyyyyyy. We are here for you. Just say the word. Such innovation and foresight. Thank G-D we got Tamir.
Zaki Tamir IS the man. I regret I didn’t vote for you. At least I could have said “I told you so.” But I’m a man, I’ll admit when I was wrong. In two years I’ll be the first on line to vote for Tamir. JOBS B”H. Passports, Visas, DMV WOWWW. GREAT WORK. KEEP IT UP. We will all work with you.
B”H EXCELLENT. The Rebbe’s Shchuna is coming along beautifully. Zaki Tamir way to go. I’m so happy I voted for you. I knew you were the right one. You gotssss what it takes and you are not afraid to move our Shchuna forward…..Chazak Ve’ematz.
1. Full service DMV operations, and 2. Passport/Visa Application Services, right here on Kingston Ave.
====================================
There is no real money in this especially in the Passport which is only if you need it next day otherwise you go to the Post Office for much cheaper.
To Ronnie Rondel You said: “Every Jew is connected to Atzmus Ein Sof, every Jew should have his own business…come straight from Hashem, not handed down as a favor from a Jewish store owner. Just my opinion.” Dear Mr. Rondel: When the money ‘seems’ to come from a Jewish store (Business) owner it IS COMING FROM HASHEM…everything is ‘Hashgacha Pratis.’ If every Yid had his/her own business is the money coming from the clients and not HaShem? Get rid of the clients and buyers? Perhaps you’re referring to ‘maan’ from Shemayim? I just planted a money tree…straight from HaShem! (Perhaps from… Read more »
You dropped out of the original elections about one year ago to honor Rav Osdoba who was against voting at that time.
I believe Rav Marlow, A”H, said is was forbidden to accept money from Fisher bec. he is in ‘cherum’ (Needooui?). Mr. D. Fisher ignored our ‘beis din.’
So, Mr. Tamir, why accept and be proud of Mr. D. Fisher? Why not defend Rav Marlow’s honor and the Torah also?
Anyone have a good answer?
Kingstamp9@aol.com
First of all thank you.
Thank you for making me feel smart, compared to your moronic statement, way to go.
#2 not everyone can wants, or should be a boss. How about you go… how about you think before you post? How about you just don’t post?
#3 I’m sure you’ve started many great and successful business with your great ideas and philosophy.
Call center is good… the main issue with job creation is the headaches that are associated with and the risks that you take hiring someone.
have to file and figure out social security bs tax, etc, etc more taxes, surprises, law suites etc.
So if you make a call center type of place and business can pay you directly without having to worry about anything else besides training and the $10 an hour it would be great:
Easy, no risk= job creation
BTW, did I mention that I hate democrats and social security?
I agree with #24.
I am surprised you wouldn’t have more sense not to write that…(even if you thought it or even said it).
What about: ‘Seyag l’chochmah shtika’ ‘a fence to wisdom is silence.’?
Perhaps, explain your opinion now that you’ve written something that seems so disadvantageous to that which you are very much involved with – helping Yidden get a parnosa.
Perhaps qualify your statements…I don’t think you meant that even youngsters and the inexperienced should start out as apprentices or subordinates.
Every dime you are taking from fisher is stolen money. This is not a breath of fresh air… its a slap in the face to the rebbe and this community.
Why is everyone getting so excited over a multi millionair giving 5000 dollars? Why is that news? What a joke!!!
That comment was extremely unintelligent. Jews shouldn’t work for other Jews? Fact is if everyone owned their own business nobody would have any employees, which obviously isn’t how the business world works. Your naivete makes me wonder about your qualifications to run an employment organization in Crown Heights. Maybe it woudl be nice if everyone could own their own business, but encouraging business owners to hire their fellow Jews would help many, many families have parnassah.
Its about time we have a true leader, Zaki keep up your great work, It was nice seeing you last night
Who ever told you that ppl lost their parnassa because of Fischer? That’s an outright lie. fischer provided section 8 Apts for the community, and plenty of jobs in the management office. It was the Vaad Hakol that caused the loss of jobs and the apartments to the point that if you were close to fischer was the only way you can get the jobs or the apartments. Your going to say huh nepotism. Well to bad you would take care of your freinds and family when everyone else is against you. As far as the rebbes pain. yes there… Read more »
This money is blood money from Crown Heights Residents, including almonos. These people invested millions in “Schebro” and what they got for it is, Fisher getting thanked for $ 5,000.00, not his money…..
a sad day for Crown Heights.
Zaki learn your history……
to #16, Jews working for Jews is not ideal, for both employer and employee. Every Jew is connected to Atzmus Ein Sof, every Jew should have his own business or otherwise have his or her parnassah come straight from Hashem, not handed down as a favor from a Jewwish store owner. Just my opinion.
remember what happened last time fisher was involved? how many ppl lost ther parnasa? what about the rebbes pain that we all remember vividly? does anyone care???
way to go!
we are proud of you!
this is amazing!
Why does almost every store in Crown Heights hire cheap non-Jewish labor? Hire Jewish labor, give them a decent salary and benefits (not off-the-books) and Hashem will reward.
Zaki, thanks for making another yid’s Gashmius-your Ruchnius!
As the person coordinating the new Web Development course, I just wanted to add that we have been trying to get an accelerated course for smart people in our community who could take advantage of this training to launch a potentially well paying career. The plans for the course were developed months ago, and without any government funding, it was not certain the course would ever take place. Bottom line, people from the community stepped up to the plate, which is inspiring. This is only regarding the course, which I am involved with, as the article says there is a… Read more »
it is not that I want to rekindle a machlokes, but as long as there is no letter that states that the Sirus was removed it is forbidin to take Money from him…
kol hakovod keep your good work
Dovid Fisher should be ashamed of himself for giving such a paltry amount of tzedaka in return to the very community that made him rich. What is so special about him giving $5000.00 to our community??? He should be giving a lot more. I know its not up to me to tell him what to do with his money. However the gmara says about Nakdimon ben Gurion that he didn’t give tzedaka as much as he should of, how much more so in the case of Dovid Fisher.
How about a real-estate advisory. With the market so depressed there are bound to be opportunities.
There may even be investors who don’t have the time to scout around for opportunities, but would take a capital interest in an idea that plain yungerman comes up with.
Yashekoach.
Suggestions:
Perhaps an email address for accepting business ideas, proposals, and concepts. Those busy running businesses often have ideas from their work environment.
A venture capital facility (if only for assisting in guidance and contacts) and a patent advisory service (again, if only to provide guidance and contacts, dayenu.)
Sounds very useful. I hope people will take advantage of this opportunity.
Awsome!
u go shaya!
Wow, a breath of fresh air. Zaki you are a true inspiration for myself and my family. All of you effort is greatly appreciated. Much Hatzlacha in you holy work.
Zaki,
I did not vote for you but now I wish i did.
Wow! This is Great! B”H there is hope for our schunah.
I am impressed with the people who are really trying to make a difference and change the face of our community.
We need help and finally someone is trying to help.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
ZAKI WE GOT YUR BACK LOVE YA
Thanks. Thank you Zaki, thank you Mr Fischer, thank your Mr. Gordon. Zaki, we are hopeful, please don’t stop…
