The first anniversary of the passing of the legendary and revered Head Shliach of Paris, Rabbi Shmuel Azimov OBM, was marked on Sunday, 12 Cheshvan, in France and Israel.
People who were influenced by the leader of the “French Lubavitch revolution” and have reconnected with their Jewish roots are marking the day in learning and doing Mitzvos in his merit.
On the eve of the yartzeit on Motzoei Shabbos Parshas Lech Lecha, a Melave Malka festive meal took place at the Beth Loubavitch des Etudiants, the Chabad center for students in the 5th district of Paris.
Men and women gathered there and heard words of inspiration by Rabbi Azimov’s son in law, Shliach Rabbi Elchanan Marozov.
On Sunday morning, a minyan was held at Beth Haya Mouchka, the large educational campus founded by Rabbi Azimov where his son Rabbi Levi Azimov stood chazan and shared a ‘tikkun’ with participants, as customary.
Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, Rabbi Azimov’s oldest son Rabbi Mendel Azimov came with a group of Shluchim and community members to the Chabad shul in the Shikun Chabad neighborhood for Shachris.
They then continued to the Har Hazeitim cemetery with Rabbi Moule Azimov’s brother Rabbi Moshe Nissan Azimov, where kaddish and mishnayos were said.
Almost all of the 170 shluchim serving in Chabad centers in Paris were Rabbi Azimov and his wife Bassie‘s students.
