A fire broke out on Kingston Avenue this evening, in a pile of boxes in front of the Flash electronics store.
Although the fire started out small, as customers eating in the nearby Pizza shop ran out and tried to pour water on the flames, the flames only got bigger, a bystander told COLlive.com.
Firefighters arrived quickly on the scene and put out the flames. Noone was injured.

15 don’t be so harsh, they were clearly aware of the man on the phone with an emergency operator (as he had a conversation that lasted nearly the entire length of the video and were in quite close proximity to the caller). They probably wanted to be of some use and regular people would try to dump water on it.

The thing that strikes me as weird is that despite water and a fire extinguisher the fire kept spreading. Gas fires spread when you put water on them because you spread the gasoline around and the water and gas don’t mix so it doesn’t help. I highly doubt it was a cigarette. the fire just would not behave that way if it was.

May I just clarify before getting attacked, I called 911 before this man in the video. How do I know? Because when I saw the fire, it was half the size. And yes, generally fires grow.
I must say I am surprised as to the stupidity in the comments made. Why was there garbage? Well, let’s see, it’s an avenue with stores which produce garbage.
