When a relative of R’ Yoske Lider of Kfar Chabad fell ill with cancer, he wanted to help with a spiritual initiative to merit a full recovery.
Writing to the Rebbe and opening an Igros Kodesh, Lider read a letter to a person who was ill and mentioned: “The 2 Sifrei Torah that I sent…”
Lider, who organizes the leil shishi farbrengen in Kfar Chabad on Thursday nights, decided to write a Sefer Torah for people who need healing and miracles.
He was also reminded by the story of the Baal Shem Tov, who wrote a Torah during a time when a disease broke out in a village and locals were healed as a result.
Once Lider announced the writing, many other requests came in asking to have letters, words, and full columns of the Torah dedicated to specific people. He says many have been healed since.
Since then, 2 Torahs have been completed. The third one was now completed at the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, with sofer stam Rabbi Gad Sabag writing the final letters.
Once the final letter was written, people present at 770 participated in Hakafos and welcomed the new Torah with singing and dancing.
