Final Stages of Mayanot Campaign

For 36 hours which began on Tuesday, and will end at 9:00 PM Eastern, Mayanot is raising $2,000,000 at www.charidy.com/Mayanot. During that time, all donations given are being doubled by a fund established by 9 generous contributors with strong commitment to the Jewish future.

Mayanot, established 20 years ago in Jerusalem, has been committed to giving young Jewish people the tools they need to become active members in their community. Together, the staff and faculty of Mayanot has been planting strong Jewish values in the hearts of thousands.

In 2006, Aron Lazer, born in Johannesburg and brought up in Perth, Australia, found himself in Mayanot. He returned to discover more in 2010. In the interim, Gani, who grew up in Pittsburgh and Queens, found herself in Mayanot in 2008. In 2011, they became Gani and Aron Lazer Goodman when they married in March.

Today, the Goodmans (and their three children, Shayna, Issy and Leah) call Morristown, NJ home. Aron Lazer practices Real Estate and Corporate Law in NYC and Gani serves as the COO of the Meaningful Life Center in Brooklyn.

On the side, the Goodmans have spent time volunteering at the Jewish Relief Agency of Metro West, a non-profit they founded together, as well as teaching and spearheading programs for young professionals and school aged children in and around New York and New Jersey.

“Our time at Mayanot has shaped who we are as individuals and as a couple. We both built a sense of Jewish pride and strong Jewish identity that has carried through to today” Aron Lazer said. “I know I speak for both of us when I say, these are the values we are imparting on our children.”

Today’s campaign will help Mayanot write more beautiful stories like these. “Mayanot is just the first experience” said Rabbi Shlomo Gestetner. “And, just as it has been for the Goodmans, our goal is to ensure that it becomes a life-long experience for many more.”
