Feinschmekers, Unite

For a $10 fee, residents of Crown Heights and elsewhere enjoyed a delightful Sunday afternoon, attending a cheese and wine tasting at Benz's Gourmet on Albany Avenue. Winemaker and wine connoisseur Jeff Morgan spoke about choosing the right bottle for the right occasion. Photos

And what is the problem if we actually learn something from this post .The nicest part of this article is the three comments discussing a din in shulchan aruch .not to say that this was not a nice event it sure looks like it was

Why does a discussion about Halacha (that you probably don’t know) bother you?

What we need is more discussion of Torah and Halacha, not less.

Way to go both Benzi’s and Ebers. The only two stores that I personally think are friendly and give you the good customer service. Keep up the great work. May you both grow from strengh to strength.

I thought it was the other way around red wine is more choshuv (better) than white. It’s clearly that wai in Shulchan Aruch.

I do it all the time (I learned to do it from a big Lubavitch rov).

Two people can make Hatov V’Hamaitiv together when a new, better wine is brought out and there is still some of the previous wine remaining. You must be sure that the wine is a better wine, which is easy if you’re going from kiddush wine to dry wine, but not so clear when all the wines are fine. However, when going from a red wine to a white wine you can always make the brocho.

Hatov Vhametiv
May 18, 2009 9:02 am

The Alter Rebbe writes in Birchas hanenin that when upgrading to a finer wine in one meal to recite the brocho hatov vhametiv. I’ve never seen it done. Anyone with some insight on this matter?

You did not mention, that Moshe Vogel of Natural and Kosher cheese was there, to answer people’s questions about his company’s cheese. The very popular pepper jack cheese was a huge hit! People were especially impressed with the smoothness, and perfect kick that it has.
