In recent weeks, fathers of the Mesivta bochurim have joined their sons on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in the Mesivta Zal to learn the Gemorah of the week. They learned one on one with their sons with the Maggidei Shiur close by to answer any questions that arose.
The program has been a big success with the majority of the fathers coming and really enjoying the learning with their sons. For those bochurim whose fathers couldn’t come, the Yeshiva invited their Zeides or close friends to come instead.
The Kol Torah could be heard from far away, as the fathers and sons got very involved in understanding, learning and teaching. One father commented, “I feel like I am back in Yeshiva.”
Another said, “It’s a great opportunity to connect with my son a higher level. I wouldn’t have this if he was learning out-of-town.” The bochurim, as well, greatly enjoyed having their fathers come and learn together with them.
A Father and Son Program is usually thought of as program for younger students before Bar Mitzvah. However, with Chovevei Torah Mesivta’s new program it looks like that perception will change.
Rabbi Minsky, the menahel of the Mesivta, says, “I hope that others will follow our lead. In our yeshiva, it has been a great benefit for our Talmidim and their fathers, and it enhances their relationship together.”

Thank you Rabbi Minksy for all that you do for our boys. We are proud parents of talmidim at Chovevei – for the past few years and look forward to sending our next son IY”H next year. Rabbi Minsky, and his staff, are great role models and really work with and care about the boys, each one on their own level.
