By Nechama Weiss
When I started preparing for my Bas Mitzvah I didn’t want it to be just about the party. Like my mom always tells kids who come to our Chabad House, “it’s not about the bar, it’s about the mitzvah.”
I wanted it to be more meaningful. I wanted to be able to help, and make a difference in someone’s life.
My mother asked me if I want to raise funds for a Chosson and kallah, (bride and groom), but I wanted it to be something for kids so my mother told me about Friendship Circle, and I really liked the idea. We watched some videos, and spoke about some kids we know with special needs and some of the struggles they and their families have daily.
I love how Friendship Circle has programs for these kids and trips for them and the volunteers who help. I love how they make every kid feel special, like he/she has a purpose and unique mission. I am so touched by the things they do and yet so grateful for being healthy and my siblings as well.
I told my father he should run the marathon, and my mother and I would raise money for Friendship Circle. His goal would be to train, (and yes, he’s up to 10 miles a night) and mine to raise the money.
When I found out the marathon was the day of my Bas Mitzvah party, I knew I chose the right project. My father will run while we cheer him on, and from there we will celebrate my becoming a Bas Mitzvah.
It’s all about goals. My goal is to be a true bas Chabad, making my parents and the Rebbe proud, and the goal of raising at least 1,800.00 for Friendship Circle.
The first goal is my responsibility, but maybe all of you can help me with my second goal. Can you be my partner in this mitzvah? Please to our personal page at www.teamfriendship.org/tzippyweiss to donate what you can.
Sincerely,
Nechama Weiss

You are a wonderful wonderful neshoma, do you know how Happy Hashem is with you.
This is what the world needs, the jewish world must show more of this attitude, it is not the brightest elite who will bring Moshiach, it is the people who do this chesed, towards those who come to earth to show us how to be.
Thank you for being so unspoilt, so good, not to be all about yourself, you are what Lubuvitch needs.
Gd bless you and your family.
