Chassidic farbrengens were held at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights on Monday night with Chassidim and Yeshiva bochurim gathering to hear words of chizuk and even participate in dancing.
The occasion was Rosh Chodesh Kislev, the day that the Rebbe recovered from a major heart attack he suffered on Shemini Atzeres 5738 (1977).
From that day on, the Rebbe redoubled his efforts on behalf of the Jewish nation and all of humanity and for the dissemination of Torah and chassidism, Chabad.org notes. From then on, the first of Kislev is celebrated as a day of thanksgiving and rejoicing.
A large farbrengen in the main shul of 770 was addressed by rabbonim and mashpiim, and was dedicated to Rabbi Meir Harlig OBM, who organized the gathering every year.
Another farbrengen for bochurim was held in the small zal upstairs and was led by Rabbi Shloma Zarchi, Mashpia of the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim at 770.
