By Chanie Jacobson
This past week, Zayin Adar I, marked the yartzeit of my beloved father, Rabbi Betzalel Jacobson A”h.
He was exemplary in so many ways. A special and gentle soul. He always spoke in a low manner, he was so humble to the highest degree, yet always greeted everyone with the biggest respect.
My father never looked for honor or respect because that wasn’t in the slightest degree important to him. His main priority was to support his family, making sure we had everything we needed. He was a treasure chest of knowledge, anecdotes and stories, which he shared freely with us.
He was a man of few words, yet his silence spoke louder than a thousand words. He was a “penimi,” someone who chose to devote himself to self refinement. His unwavering strength was unfathomable. He taught me what it meant to be a real “Anav,” to have humility, not by telling us but by showing us.
His love and commitment for Torah, Chassidus and mitzvos was unspeakable. It pierced through your heart to see his love for the vision Hashem wanted Klal yisroel to live and he lived that vision on the highest level and gave that love over to his children.
He used to knock on our door every Shabbos morning to tell us to wake up in time to go to shul. That meant the world to him. Also, when we lit shabbos candles on time and dressed tznius.
The world had such an honor to host my father’s precious soul and he is greatly missed. Hashem took his key of life back, but his chain still lives on through his family and the example he set to others.
May his Neshama have the greatest Aliyah.
i really miss you
r.i,p neshama shud have aliya
Rabbi Besalel Jacobson was a Kan in the Chassidic menorah. One year the Rebbe chose (from what I am told) 7 bachurim in Chassidus and 7 in Niglah to learn extra Torah and give over chidushe Torah to the community intermittently for a year. I think some the lectures Rabbi Betsalel Jacobson gave over were published. Rabbi Betsalel Jacobson was chosen to be a branch in the Chassidic menorah. No greater honor then that. He was a very special man and he always had a smile and twinkle in his eye. I miss him very much.
