Update: The Seldowitz family reports that Shmuely has thank G-d been found.

The Seldowitz family is desperately looking for their missing son, who is 24 years old and is autistic, lost in the streets in New York City since Thursday, September 4.
“Our family is devastated because our beloved Shmuely (who goes by Ben and other names) has gone missing after being neglected and mismanaged by the hospital,” his mother Sara Seldowitz told COLlive. “After being brought there, he was discharged to a homeless shelter and abandoned there. He escaped into the bowels of Manhattan with no phone, no money, and no nothing but the clothes on his back.”
Shmuely is very vulnerable and makes friends with whoever is near him at the time, which could include the most derelict and dangerous of people, his family says.
The family is beside themselves, as this is what has happened after being denied the resources and help that he so desperately needs.
“The utmost concern now is finding him and ensuring his safety,” his mother says.
The police say they are looking for Shmuely but the family wants to hire a private detective, and are asking for the public’s help in raising the funds to do so.
After he is found, God willing, money is needed to assess his needs and properly care for him.
“Please, please help us find Shmuely,” his terrified mother says.

I’m sure there will be legal issues to settle with the hospital later on, but for the right now, see about getting the hospital to hire/pay for a private investigator to find Shmuely ASAP! The cheshbon ($) can be settled later but in the meantime, they, as the responsible party should do everything they can to find him!
