A stand-alone Pareve falafel restaurant has opened on Kingston Avenue in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights on Wednesday, the latest in a string of eateries which have opened in the neighborhood in the last few years.
The narrow but newly renovated space seats approximately 15 people, but owner Meir Adika told COLlive he is banking on serving many customers for take-out and delivery.
Lining the walls are vibrant original paintings by the owner himself, an Israeli native artist who now lives in Queens, NY, who also has 20 years experience in the restaurant industry.
The restaurant, under Crown Heights Kosher (CHK) supervision, has begun offering authentic Israeli-style falafel, salads and french fries, all made fresh on premises. They will soon expand to soups and fish dishes, Adika said.
The store joins 2 acclaimed eateries nearby that have been attracting a loyal following – the dairy Basil Pizza & Wine Bar and the burger restaurant Boeuf & Bun.
Adika says he knows the popularity of a fresh, vegetarian menu – which might even resonate with the non-Jewish crowd roaming the area past Eastern Parkway, between Lincoln and S. Johns Place.
“We will be offering homemade falafel, hummus and tehina, which is so different and really delicious when it’s made fresh,” Adika says. They will be offering fresh juices, salads and fish and chips as well.

To #5, that’s a matter of opinion. I find it very tasty without cabbage.
it is on kingston ave between lincoln and s. johns (closer to s. johns)
Went there last night around 9;45 and it was closed 🙁
WHAT ARE THE HOURS
But where is the fried eggplant and cabbage and chips?
Its CHEEEEPS! not Chips
The only thing authentic i see here is the fact that the place is a tiny hole in the wall (which is not a negative thing)
the fried eggplant seems to be a must and I hope the condiments will be as authentic as they claim to be
I also pray that the place will remain CLEAN!! and not grease covered
בהצלחה

On my next visit to NY from EY I will be sure to stop by & give my opinion on “authentic” Israeli falaffel. I can already see that it isn’t really authentic – the place is clean!
In the history of CH if you already making something make it good and Authentic meaning using good ingredients and make the same sides like in Israel (onion with sumac, cabbage salad, fried eggplant, fried potato chip in tempura, good quality tehini etc’) don’t take it to the Haredi taste buds. And please for once, keep a clean place with clean floor and tables. Good luck!
hope to be there soon to enjoy a taste of Israel.
