The third graduating class of the Menachem Education Foundation’s Teacher Training Program celebrated Tuesday a graduation ceremony combined with a parenting lecture in Crown Heights.
A group of 16 future educators graduated following a year-long program consisting of over 120 hours of instruction combined with 10 hours of mentoring and student teaching.
The program covers key areas of instruction including lesson planning, differentiating instruction, engaging children and best practices of classroom management. The graduates received Certificates in Educational Training from Medgar Evers College-CUNY.
Family, alumni, community leaders and members gathered at the Crown Condos to mark the occasion.
Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, Principal of Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh, delivered a guest lecture entitled “Parenting: Practical Guidance for Raising Solid Children.”
Rosenblum shared ideas for inspiring and transforming our children to grow up to be warm, selfless and chassidishe people.
Rabbi Yehuda Green, a graduate of the course, delivered a short speech in which he reflected on how the program helped him become more focused and more devoted to improving educational practice.
Zaki Tamir, Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, joined the Foundation’s Director Rabbi Zalman Shneur in handing the certificates of completion to the graduates.
Tamir spoke briefly regarding his plans for improving education and educational opportunities in Crown Heights.

While this “Foundation” is attempting to enhance the educational training of our communities rebbeim, let us not fool ourselves that a “Certificated Course” of “120 hours” accomplishes anything more than giving our future educators a glimpse as to what education is supposed to be. Let’s not make this more than it is.
It is worthwhile nonetheless in that it creates a spotlight on enhancing education albeit to a very limited extent.
go r.lustig you did a great job i dont think you need a
teaching class
No one is arguing with what you are saying, at all.
But, to deprive respect to teachers is what i am saying is wrong. Things often depend more on where they are said, than on what is said. I commented mainly on the title, and also on what it possibly implied. I didn’t say that that was the author’s intent – but that it could be taken that way.
Sometimes we need to face reality. If we are to proud to do that & never admit that teachers here, (and also everywhere else) can use a little help then we are compromising at the expense of the children, which will never reflect well on us, NO MATTER ( ATT # 3) what type of sugarcoated title we use.
The adjective “better” is a comparative form…
Love,
#3
If anything it should say – expect a new batch of great teachers.
the title should be something that would imply that yes there are great teachers and there are not so great teachers – but here come a new bunch a great teachers.
there really isnt any good enough excuse for this title. sorry #11
Man, are you off base. Had the title said “expect GOOD teachers” you might have ground for complaint – what’s the matter teacher’s aren’;t now good? But the title said “expect better teachers”. Do you think current teachers can’t be better? do you think there are no better teachers than those which currently exist? And why did you only protect CH teachers. This class is not only for CH teachers or to improve teachers in CH. Sounds like you are Pompous, Disrespectful, and Self-Defeating and from CH and perhaps a teacher in CH and standing up for your own kovod.… Read more »
This is great, thank you!
You are for #3 great
proof!
you obviously did not go to school in Crown heights (or maybe you did and you therefore do not know the definition of excellent)
Thats the truth!!
we luv u!
This is the 3rd group of great young energetic yungalit, ready to educate our children with the right tools they need. Thanx to the menachem education foundation!
Teachers here in Crown Heights are Excellent!
They are Devoted, Caring, and Energetic.
If you are attempting to say that they lack education – that is demeaning and counter-productive to creating an atmosphere in the community conducive to good education: and that is instilling RESPECT and trust in the teachers of our Mosdos here in Crown Heights.
Expect “BETTER” Teachers!!!???
That is disgusting!
looks like the teachers are sleeping through class!!! 🙂
It was 16 days together, not 16 hours…
