Today, the 29th Shevat, marks the 8th yahrtzeit of Rabbi Joshua B. Gordon, founding shliach of Chabad of the Valley and a beloved teacher to thousands via his classes on Chabad.org. Eight years after his passing, a weekly essay series is now in circulation, focusing on the weekly Torah portion. This initiative, titled “Life Lessons from the Parshah” is a collaborative effort between Chabad.org and the Rabbi Joshua B. Gordon Living Legacy Fund, which benefits the 32 centers of Chabad of the Valley.
Jointly published by Chabad of the Valley and Chabad.org, these essays are adaptations by Rabbi Mottel Friedman of sermons and classes originally delivered by Rabbi Gordon and broadcast on Chabad.org. The essays are prominently featured on Chabad.org, and elegantly designed printed versions, often including additional content, are distributed weekly to Chabad Houses and shuls worldwide (PDF attached).
Eli Gordon, the youngest son of Rabbi Gordon and a member of the team responsible for publishing these essays, shared, “I believe that my father, of blessed memory, would be very proud of this initiative. It’s truly something special to see these timeless teachings put into writing after all these years.”

I only started listening to his Chumash and Tanya shiurim three years ago, and they have impacted my life in profound and meaningful ways. I regret that I never got to meet the man responsible for helping rekindle my love of learning Torah. His Neshama should have an aliyah, amen.
I love Rabbi Gordon’s a”h daily chitas shiur. May his neshama have an aliyah every day, and may his family continue his holy shlichus.
Now more that ever

I’ve never met him and I’ve been learning Tanya with him great teacher in the present moment
If not for rabbi gordon I would not be doing chitas every day. He teaches it in such a pleasant and informative way. May his neshomo have an aliya.
Wow! Can’t believe he passed away 8 years ago. Its mind boggling how he still teaches so many… 8 years later…!!! I literally learn with him Chumash and Tanya every day! His neshama should have an aliya
Rabbi Josh Gordon, so of Rabbi Shalom Gordon was one of our greats and impacted the lives of many. May his children continue in his footsteps and help to continue in ushering in Moshiach with simcha and shalom now.
Rabbi Gordon is my Daily source of inspiration for his Chumash and Tanya classes – I discovered his Tanya class a month before his death and since his death I have become even more captivated by his classes – his insights combined with his personal style of instruction makes the Tanya and Chumash with Rashi come alive. I had the privilege of visiting the room where his classes originated on a trip to Los Angeles for the unveiling of my aunt z”l whose journey with Chabad was featured in an article published by COLLIVE and who by hashgacha pratis is… Read more »
His classes really keep me connected.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 amazing!!!
I listen to Rabbi Gordon’s Rambam and Chitas every day. Rabbi Gordon teaches more Torah every day (8 years after his passing) than any other living human being on the planet. I cannot think of another human being who continues to have such a major effect on others so many years after his passing other than the Rebbe. May his soul have an elevation .
He accomplished so much. His online shiurim are timeless. A great learning tool. Thank you!
You still teach me chitas every day in with an incredible sense of humor and in a clear, engaging way. Even my kids ask me to put on Rabbi Gordon’s chitas….
