The national director of Education Administration & Aliyat HaNoar in Israel – Mrs. Ilana Nulman – and ten of her leading colleagues visited Beis Chana, Tzfas, this past week.
This Administration supervises all the government associated Youth Villages and dormitories in the country. Four and half years ago, when Mrs. Nulman met all the country’s dorm principals, she was personally invited to visit Beis Chana’s high school dorm by Rabbi Shlomo Raskin, the CEO of Beis Chana. Mrs. Nulman gaver her word then, and now she kept it.
A person of Mrs. Nulman’s caliber doesn’t make on-site visits so she can seem impressive, and not to mark this off her ‘to do’ list. She makes visits because this is part of her crucial teamwork with her staff. The group spent over four hours touring Beis Chana, speaking with teachers and other staff, as well as highschool, dorm and seminary students.
The visit was remarkable, exhilarating, and inspiring for all, and the guests were duly impressed. The session in which Beis Chana’s education process and accomplishments were described was especially powerful – Me’ein Olam Haba!
A Beis Chana-Naale student whose family lives on Shlichus in Kyrgyzstan, shared how she studied online for her entire life, and had no ‘real’ friends. Only when she came to Beis Chana in 10th grade was she able to form real friendships. Her thanks to Beis Chana-Naale was said as her voice cracked from emotion. No eye was left dry in the room of listeners.
At the conclusion of the visit, Mrs. Nulman exclaimed that she can testify to Beis Chana’s educational success, “You don’t give up on any student, and you work with each girl according to her own personality and needs – as a result, the student learns to accept and believe in herself.”
The group’s and staff’s post-visit excitement lasted for hours even after they left the campus!
