This past sunday night the Sydney Chabad community gathered at the Tzemach Tzedek Community Centre for a fully catered seuda to celebrate the Siyum Harambam and a Siyum on Masechta Sotah.
The evening started off with words of welcome from Hatomim Yisroel Noach Lipskier who introduced Rabbi Yossi Braun, Rabbi of Tzemach Tzedek to make the siyum on Rambam.
The next speaker was the youngest member of the nightly Sotah shiur which took place every night of the omer after Maariv at Tzemach Tzedek, Mendel Braun, age 12, who proudly concluded Masechta Sotah, and gave an in-depth analysis of the concluding words of the masechta.
Rabbi Perlow, community Mashpia and Sochet, was honored with restarting the new cycle of Rambam and spoke about the mitzva of knowing Hashem.
This was followed by the grand Tikkun Leil Shavous raffle for kids who stayed awake, said Tikkun and Shema the next morning, where 5 kids were zoche to choose from various sets of seforim.
The master of ceremonies, Hershel Tuvel, introduced the guest speaker of the evening, Rabbi Aron Moss, rabbi of Kehilas Nefesh and lecturer at Bina, who stimulated the crowd with insights into many particular details of the Rambam’s personality, and how the Rambam viewed his achievements. He concluded by encouraging all to strengthen their daily Rambam studies.
After birchas hamazon, the tables were joined for a chasidishe farbrengen which carried on way into the night.
The event was sponsored by various members in the community and was arranged by the talmidim hashluchim of Yeshivas Tzemach Tzedek.
