Message from Benji Stock, Director of Community charity organization Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov, known as CSSY
My Dear Friends:
Everybody knows CSSY. You know who we are, what we do, and that we’ve been doing it every day of every week for more than 33 years. You all know people who’ve lost jobs. And everybody sees their neighbors, friends or relatives using CSSY food coupons in the local stores.
Now it’s Erev Yom Tov. We need more money than ever before to help hundreds of needy people celebrate Yom Tov properly and in dignity. But many donors can’t give tzedakah the way they used to, so we don’t have money. We owe the stores money. In fact, we borrow in order to cover our expenses each week.
That’s why we’re turning to you for help.
Kindly take a minute right now and donate generously to CSSY.
Of course I would be happy to visit you personally, but because of my many responsibilities I simply can’t go door to door to raise this amount of money.
Please – give as much as you can. Give because you know how crucial it is for your neighbors, relatives & friends and because you truly care.
Please mail your donations to:

Thank you in advance. I wish you a happy, sweet New Year – a year when G-d fulfills all your heart’s desires for the good.
K’siva v’chasima tova
Sincerely,
Benzion Stock
CSSY does so much for people that it’s mind-boggling — I’m sure we don’t even begin to know, since a lot of it is done quietly in order not to embarrass anyone. Every penny donated to them is well-given. Benji, may Hashem bensch you and everyone who helps you with a good, sweet, healthy year.
Thank G-d I dont need thier help but I can give.
I might not have much, can hardly cover tuition but, I give what I can. I am sure that my “pennies” help too.
Benjy, Keep up your great work. I Know that your father is proud of how you are following in his footsteps.
to number 18.. interesting that your comment posted as number 18. (18=chai=life)
May you “live” a long and healthy life for saying it exactly right, You put my thoughts into words.
yasher koach!!!
-huh?
when someone puts out his hand asking for money he surely does not want to be told that he can go elsewhere,. CSSY does not turn anyone away .. #2 and #4 you are not donating (obviously) so why the comment? Exactly what are you trying to accomplish? Are you looking to give chizuk to those who are working really really hard helping others? It does not seem so. So not only are you not helping but you are actually looking to break!!?? That is pretty sad. I wonder, did you think before you wrote those unnecessary words? Remember it… Read more »
I hosted 3 Israelis for Tishrei & it didn’t cost a penny. They mostly went to the programs that were set up for them and the few times they ate at my house did not require me to purchase any more than I would anyway. It is very possible for people in very modest circumstances to fulfill the priveledge of hachnasas Orchim – without the outlay of “thousands of dollars” as you claim.
those that can should help and as shimshon would say “give or take” when he would walk on those benches in 770 collecting for CSSY
may hashem bench benji for doing all this great work

click on donate now it really works they will process your cards within 24 hours
Please put a link to a website or google checkout or paypal or some other way to make donations by check or credit card. People read the article, get warmed up and you should collect right away. Otherwise they forget to follow up.
Yes, I benefited from CSSY
CSSY is the greatest. I can’t imagine how great Shimshon’s and Martha’s Gan Eden is for what they did. And I wish Bejy the best life on this earth with much Nachas, good health and a sweet happy New Year.
I join with number 9: CSSY helps my family and so many others. G-d bless them all and everyone who donates to them.
Kesiva vachasima tova to all.
BS:D
Maybe, if not for the hateful comments, ( which totally ignore the poor people who need help),there would be no more poor people who need help
Would love to give, always gave but lost my job year & half ago.
Disgusting comment. Tell me, do you ever blow the moths out of your wallet to help your neighbors? Or do you just leave it to others on the grounds that you know who has what to give & therefore, you don’t have to?
In the past we were able to give a lot more to CSSY & other organizations, but this recession has hit us very hard. Obviously, #2 never gave a cent even in the good times. Cheap son of a gun.
Thank you benji for always being there
We wouldn’t be able to live without ur help
I hope u people(2 and 4) will never need any help and if u ever do stay away
Stop this now !! we all need to give CSSY tzedoko. Give or dont give but dont talk about someone else.
Attention Crown Heights’ers: If you can’t cover tuition bills for your children, then YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HOSTING GUESTS FOR TISHREI. It is very costly to host guests, and you are doing it on the cheshbon of other expenses that you need to cover throughout the year. If you dish out several thousand dollars for guests during Tishrei, then don’t tell your childs school that you can’t afford the tuition. Then they can’t pay the teachers because YOU spent that money on guests. How much more so to Chas V’sholom take money from CSSY and then invite guests over. Who… Read more »
to number 2!! hey it seems that u know how much money fisher has! just out of curiosity how do you know??
Great idea. Especially since they are such good buddies!
Why don’t you give fisher a brake he helped the community so much and then just threw him out for repayment?
Now 20 years later you are asking for him to help come on you should’ve been normal 20+ years ago
why cant he go to fisher hes got plenty of money to over all bills!
dont borrow too much money – you might get addicted to debt!
