A truly tragic story came out of Jerusalem this week, as a family of 8 has been catapulted into an unthinkable crisis.
One of the six Avetan children is epileptic. Another two are deaf. Their parents have sunken into unthinkable levels of debt whilst attempting to provide their children with all of the necessary treatments. Many of them are reportedly lacking teeth, due to an inability to afford a dentist.
The situation has taken on a new urgency, however, as the family is now being asked by the bank to leave their home. This would mean homelessness for the six children, disabled children and their parents. How they would survive on the streets, is inconceivable.
The family has launched an emergency campaign in hopes of saving them from this tragic fate. In a short video on the campaign page, Hodaya 11, addresses the camera. She asks for help for her deaf sister, Efrat, so that she can hear her lessons in school. It is painful to watch.
