250 guests attended a gala dinner at Kimberly Gardens marking the fifth anniversary of the Gan Gabi & Rivki Early Learning Centre of Chabad of Bentleigh, Australia.
At the dinner, Rabbi Mendel Raskin, director of Chabad Bentleigh, thanked the local MP Elizabeth Miller for her assistance in securing a government grant of $350,000 towards a new building project for the centre.
As the ELC is bursting at its seams with over seventy children attending daily, the need for their own dedicated building is urgently required to replace some of the classes located in portable buildings. With this new building, it would be able to accommodate up to 130 children.
A staunch supporter of the centre from its very beginning, Mr. Mottel Feiglin, recounted the early days when Chabad in Bentleigh was established as the first such Chabad House in Australia.
The Directors of the Gan Gabi & Rivki ELC, Rabbi Yitzi and Draiza Engel hosted the event and thanked their parents Rabbi Mendel and Lea Raskin for establishing the Chabad House in Bentleigh and keeping focus through thick and thin.
The ELC Coordinator, Mrs. Rivka Bondar thanked all the staff, parents and supporters for their continued dedication and support in growing the Centre to be one of the largest stand alone Jewish Early Learning Centres in Australia.
