After two summers of fun, learning and great times in the heart of Crown Heights, Machne Chok L’Yisroel is taking a big step towards expansion.
Due to the overwhelming demand of the many families in the neighborhood, the camp will be relocating to Chovevei Torah on Eastern Parkway.
During the camp’s first two years, directors only accepted a small number of campers in order to focus on individualized attention and making sure that every camper went home every day feeling great, explains Rabbi Zvi Lipchik, one of the camp’s co-founders. Small bunk size and individualized attention is so important to them, that they even ran the camp from their home, with children learning around the dining room table and playing in the backyard.
“It was a warm and relaxed environment, and the kids responded by learning with chayus and getting along with each other extremely well,” says Lipcchik.
In the camp’s first years, they received assistance from Rabbi Zalman Karp from Machne Mamosh as well as some other experienced mechanchim and community leaders.
Co-founder Rabbi Hershel Moss and principal of the growing and popular cheder Mosad Chok leYisroel recalls, “The kinderlach got a boost in their learning skills, and our wonderful staff made every day and every activity a ‘chinuch-moment’.”
In order to accommodate even more children, the camp’s older division will be moving to a new location in Chovevei Torah.
“We’ll keep the individualized attention and care for each camper, while adding more activities such as music, karate, and woodworking,” says Lipchik.
The camp will expand from 2 to 4 bunks this year, and there will be a new bunk for 4 year olds with a wonderful and well experienced Morah/Mechaneches.
“We’re trying to keep the summer affordable for parents, and unforgettably fun for kids,” says Moss.
