When the Anash children of Los Angeles heard about the Great Lag Ba’Omer Parade, featuring the world’s best Jewish singers and marking the special year 5770, they all wished they could attend.
“I wish I can be at this parade,” said Yossie Plotke, a 12 year old from Cheder Menachem.
“Can’t we fly cross country to be part of this historic celebration?” asked Mendy Kievman, a 5th grader at the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach.
Levi Weiss of Hancock Park was heard saying, “Why do all great events happen in Crown Heights? If only my parents would send me to 770 for the day.”
Well, their dream has become a reality. These youngsters, together with other Kinderlach of the junior Shul, will be doing just that — going to Crown Heights for the parade. Together they will board a red-eye this Motzay Shabbos and fly cross country to be part of the parade, which is marked as one of the biggest yet.
These youngsters all belong to Kol Yavok Yehuda – The Rebbe’s Diamond Daveners of Los Angeles — the organizers of this two-day marathon trip, which promises to the best Ruchnios and Gashmios.
Of special interest is that this junior minyan is named after the well-known Rabbi Yakov Yehuda (JJ) Hecht of OBM, who was the Master of Ceremonies and the translator of the Rebbe for over four decades at these parades.
“The children are beyond ecstatic about this trip,” said Yossi Mayberg, who’s son Shmuel will be attending the parade. “We want to thank Kol Yakov Yehuda for this and all the other programs that they run for our own Anash children,” Mayberg concluded.
Besides marching at the parade, the Daveners will visit the Ohel, the Rebbe’s Room and the Rebbe’s Library, as well as visiting Ground Zero, the Intrepid, and Chabad houses in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Let me propose that every city should follow in their steps and create a Sholom Mordechai Daveners Club for Anash kids.
Go Mendel Duchman! You’re truly an inspiration
It is a great pleasure to have the Davening Club here for this historic celebration!
