The dancing each night on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights at the Simchas Beis HaShoeiva celebrations will soon be moving indoors.
Simchas Torah at the main shul of Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway is legendary for its most joyous festivities where chassidim and bochurim of all ages unite in dancing and honoring the Torah.
No less iconic is the fleet of trucks standing outside, on the Parkway, providing free food and cold drinks to the masses, many of which are guests from around the world that come in for the month of Tishrei.
Spearheading the “Kiddusha Raba” effort for the 31st year is Crown Heights resident R’ Nachum Markowitz, seen Wednesday already taking up his position at 770.
This Tishrei, Markowitz also treated bochurim and guests with breakfast each day of Sukkos and Chol Hamoed at 770’s large Sukkah.
He was warmly thanked for his volunteer work by Rabbi Binyomin Klein, who served as the Rebbe’s secretary.
Now Getzy is also up to this incredible work.
So beutifull!
Not always does one have to write a stupid joke comment. Especially about something so beautiful like this. We are talking about a man that was seen on motzie YK well into the night not only giving out food but also cleaning it up! Every day of succos he’s there giving breakfast and I promise you if u pass his family sukkah any of the second days he won’t be enjoying the meal with HIS guests and HIS family hell be worrying about everyone else. So no, sometimes you skip the stupid joke and say something nice. Oh and if… Read more »

I think # 2 was just kidding. I don’t see any malice in the comment, no need to freak out.

the distribution was started for 770, “lubavitch sheBlubavitch” meaning for guests as well. Its for CH
the quantities of food is mamash a gevald
you can pick up your water at 770
Yes, CHers may have from the free food as well. Why would you think not?
#2- I’m sure Nachum will not turn u away because u r a ch resident. Go and ess gezinterheit if u feel u need to take food from the truck
reb binyomin should have lainger gezunte yorin
Dont always be so quick to judge. Many people are increadably tight on money – anything that can be given out can be helpful – thats what i did last year. I lived in crown heights – saw some food and took what i needed that i knew id eat (a cereal box, a milk, an OJ, and some fruit/silverwear – dont always be so quick to judge. When you have to balance all your money, any gift is a HUGE relief. i had as much right to take as them
To quote the article,”…. Masses, many of which are guests!” pass by at any given time, be it motzei yom kippur, breakfast buffet, simchas Torah… And you’ll see Nochum Markowitz serving crown heightsers as well as the Tishri guests! He does not discriminate
So go, but it truly makes me mad every time something nice is done for someone and then you would have comments pop up “what about me” guess what- ITS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU
Get a life. For goodness sake, if you have nothing positive to say about this about the amazing work this man is doing, keep your comments to yourself. This is pure ahavas yisroel.
Ill say this: those water bottles are a massive help for tahalucha goers
What a great cause my brother told me about it last year but its nice to see pictures
What about Crown Heights residents? Don’t we count?
Yasher koach to Mashi markowitz for standing by this amazingness
