Chevras Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov (CSSY) has been a lifeline for families in Crown Heights for decades, ensuring that no one has to face the Yomim Tovim in need.
Approaching the month of Tishrei, Benji Stock, Director of CSSY, reflects on the growing number of families reaching out for assistance. With Rosh Hashanah days away, CSSY is working tirelessly to ensure that every family in Crown Heights can celebrate these special days with dignity and joy. With the rising costs of living, the need is greater than ever.
CSSY was founded with a specific mission inspired by the Rebbe’s words. The Rebbe emphasized that Yidden must be supported for the entire Tishrei season. Shimshon Stock heeded the Rebbe’s call, and CSSY began its operations to ensure that every family in Crown Heights could celebrate each Yom Tov with dignity and simcha. This mission continues today, evolving into a critical lifeline of support, assisting hundreds of families year-round struggling with basic needs, from food for their Yom Tov tables to clothing for their children and other essentials.
Now, as Tishrei approaches, the need is greater than ever. Food prices have skyrocketed, and with three sets of three-day Yomim Tovim this year, many families are feeling the strain. Whether it’s a single mother struggling to make ends meet or a large family grappling with rising costs, CSSY is committed to saying yes to every request. This can only be possible with the help of the entire community.
Thanks to the generosity of the Crown Heights community for decades, CSSY has provided hundreds of families with the opportunity to enjoy Yom Tov meals without worry. As CSSY prepares for Rosh Hashanah, your support is crucial in achieving this mission. As Benji Stock says, “Your donation, whether it’s $180, $360, or whatever you can give, will make a real difference.” By partnering with CSSY, you can be part of this incredible mitzvah, helping ensure that no family in Crown Heights goes without this Yom Tov.
“We have over 400 applications from families needing assistance this Tishrei,” he says. “These are not just numbers; they represent real people with real struggles. They might be your neighbors, family or friends. Partner with CSSY so these families can sit down to their Yom Tov meals with simcha and peace of mind.”
